| In Pakistan there are approximately
25,000 new patients of end-stage-renal-disease
each year and about 90% of these die within
the first year due to poverty, ignorance,
and non-affordability of dialysis. Hence
there is a need of low-cost and good quality
hemodialysis facilities. |
| In 1998, Acetate Hemodialysis
Concentrate solutions have been provided
by Renacon Pharma
at about 40% lower cost as compared to similar
brands available in the country while Bicarbonate
Hemodialysis Concentrate solution was
provided at 1/3rd of the cost of imported
similar products. At that time only very
few rich patients (3-4%) were getting Bicarbonate
Hemodialysis, a much superior and more
physiological form with 80% less adverse
symptoms and a much superior quality of
life as compared to Acetate Hemodialysis. |
| By virtue of introduction
of low-cost, high-quality Hemodialysis Concentrate
in the country by the Renacon
Pharma, there has been a break through
and now about 85-90% of kidney-failure patients
are getting Bicarbonate dialysis. |
| Renapulv the powder form
of Bicarbonate
Hemodialysis Concentrate (part A &
B) is the newer introduction, which will
further cut down the cost of dialysis for
the miserable and non-affording end-stage
kidney-failure patients. |

a larger production facility is required.
Hence a new site in the most modern Industrial
Estate of Lahore has been approved by the
Ministry of Health for the new manufacturing
facility. |

(kidney) medicine and also various nutritional
products. Recently Nutritional Supplement
containing Protein and also those containing
all the major essential nutritients has
been introduced for debilitated, Malnourish
